Ground House Suadiye, Istanbul 2003
Summer house study for a mediterrenean village on a sloped site. The study aims to discover the advantages of the slope for the distribution of the programme which can also be valid for any of our public or larger scale buildings. Swimming pool would be placed on the roof with a dining / resting / sunbathing area next to it. To reach this roof level the user woul'd have two alternative routes, one is a private route from the inside of the cube and the other, climbing around the house. This is a quick montage of the house on potential environmental conditions. The route curling around the building is wider than a normal staircase. The user would be able to sit on the varying size of stairs depending on the sun's position and be able to read, listen to music, relax. The edge where the stairs meet could also be used as balconies for having snacks, drinking and enjoying the view. It would also be possible to see the sky through water by the transparent living room ceilng which can also be kept closed depending on the user's choice. partners in charge: Aras Burak |
