about Building Office's interest in Sisli roots back in 2005. We believe the contemporary city of Istanbul is nothing but Sisli. Everything else is built and connected around the Sisli district that is often ignored because of its ugliness and generic characteristic. We aim to make Istanbul understand the potentials and importance of Sisli. The absurd urban conditions and the potentials of Sisli amazes us and this book is strongly highlighting the failure of the modern architecture when it's applied on a topography like Istanbul from a global perspective. Our interest is purely the organization of space which is supposed to be the subject of the profession: architecture no matter how it looks. In order to understand the new world, after a century of the innovation of the modern architecture, we introduce the story of Sisli both in Turkish and English to the world.
